CARROLL M. CAPPS

We regret to record the death on January 15, 1971, of Carroll Mather Capps of San Francisco. Mr. Capps, approximately 60, was a former president of the San Francisco Bay Area Chess League, a regular at the Mechanics' Institute Chess Club, and many times Northern California and San Francisco champion. The Editor was fortunate to have known Mr. Capps since their high school days in Oakland and to say that his death is a loss to northern California chess is a grave understatement.
