CHESS LIFE

Volume 20, Number 8, August 1965

CHESS LIFE readers who are familiar with Orriel Smith's record "A Voice in the Wind" (Columbia: Stereo-CS 8924, Monaural-CL 2124) will be pleased to know that Orriel has brightened the scene at a chess tournament lately. In fact, she won the women's championship at the 1965 Nevada State and Invitational Tournament. Right now Orriel is attending college near her home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., is making a few West Coast television appearances, and is cutting another Columbia record. Hopefully, amid all this activity, she'll find time to play in the Central California Open in October.
