NEW CHESS COLUMN

The ARGONAUT, a San Francisco weekly, has recently included a chess column called the Chess Player. The column is edited by Dr. H. J. Ralston, senior editor of the Chess Reporter. It consists of a problem, a game, and local as well as international chess news.

The ARGONAUT has been published continuously since 1877, and has a circulation of over 40,000. Years ago, it ran what was probably the first chess column on the Pacific Coast. Unfortunately, we see little of the magazine on the newsstands here, but it may be found in the City Library.

Dr. Ralston is donating his efforts toward making this column a success. With all its possibilities for publicizing California chess, it is to be hoped that the column is continued.
